Stephen Colbert on the Anthony Weiner Scandal

The latest Anthony Weiner scandal has given late night talk show hosts something to talk about besides Donald Trump, and no one ran with it further than Stephen Colbert on last night’s The Late Show. Stephen’s monologue was filled with some rock-solid puns and innuendos, and for that, we salute him. It was particularly fitting that Stephen would be the one to hit Weiner the hardest (seriously, even when you’re not trying to make puns, it’s impossible when the guy caught up in a sexting scandal’s last name is Weiner), because Weiner appeared on The Late Show only a month ago. Stephen Colbert Takes on Donald Trump with the Werd

It’s no secret that Stephen Colbert’s version of The Late Show has struggled at times to find its voice, but his live shows during both the Republican and Democratic National Conventions seemed to have breathed new creative life into the talk show. After the return of “Stephen Colbert” and his “Word” segment during the RNC, Stephen apparently faced some pushback from his old employer, saying that the character “Stephen Colbert” was their intellectual property. While it seemed too surreal to be true, apparently it was and Stephen was forced to introduce “Stephen Colbert’s” identical twin cousin, “Stephen Colbert” and to change his “Word” segment to “Werd”. Last night, Continue reading

Stephen Colbert and Hillary Clinton Go to Carnegie Deli

Stephen Colbert sat down with Hillary Clinton at New York’s Carnegie Deli in a pre-taped interview that aired last night on The Late Show. Clinton and Colbert ate a couple of huge sandwiches, had Continue reading

We Found Out that Jay-Z Loves “Make America Drumpf Again”

Everyone is fascinated by the process over at Last Week Tonight apparently, even Stephen Colbert. On The Late Show, Colbert and his former Daily Show colleague, John Oliver discussed how a comedy news show is made over at HBO. They also talked about some of John Oliver’s recent Continue reading

Jerry Seinfeld Talks Politics and Does Stand-Up on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert

Jerry Seinfeld popped over to the Ed Sullivan Theatre yesterday to chat with Stephen Colbert and to do a stand-up set. His year-long residency at the Beacon Theater begins this week, so we suppose he was there to promote that (even though we’re sure it’s sold out). Anyway, it’s always nice to see Jerry doing stand-up. It’s at the point now that you pretty much know what you’re going to get and there’s something comforting about that. We wonder whether having to come up with new material monthly will encourage him to go outside his usual realm and to talk about topics beyond his usual observational scope. Continue reading

Samuel L. Jackson Re-Imagines Classic Movie Lines

Samuel L. Jackson is a uniquely talented actor who has his fair share of memorable movie lines (“I’ve had it with these motherfuckin’ snakes on this motherfuckin’ plane!”). When he appeared on Stephen Colbert’s Late Show last night to promote his latest Quentin Tarantino collaboration, The Hateful Eight, Stephen Continue reading

Stephen Colbert Asks the Big Questions with Jennifer Lawrence

One of Stephen Colbert’s favorite recurring bits on The Late Show is “Big Questions with Even Bigger Stars,” where he and celebrities like Tom Hanks lie on a “hillside” together, look at the stars, and ask big questions. It’s silly and Continue reading

It feels like we’ve been talking about the new late night TV talk show hosts a lot lately, so we figured it must be time to check in on the former hosts. Luckily, some David Letterman news was announced today. It turns out that Dave is donating his set and some props from his tenure on The Late Show to his alma mater, Ball State University. Continue reading

Stephen Colbert and Jack Black Create the Ultimate Political Anthem

Stephen Colbert’s version of The Late Show is just as focused on politics as The Colbert Report was, and who can blame him with all the comedy fodder that politics provides? Last night, he combined political humor with music, teaming up with Jack Black to create the ultimate political anthem in the wake of a wide swath of bands/musicians who have been angered by politicians using their music without their permission. We sincerely hope that one of the candidates takes Stephen up on his offer and uses this song in at his or her next campaign stop.

Tom Hanks and John Oliver on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert

We were excited to tune in to The Late Show with Stephen Colbert last night to see him chat with another Daily Show alum, John Oliver. Before we got to the John Oliver interview, however, we were treated to a surprise visit from Tom Hanks. Tom joined Stephen on the fake grass for another edition of Big Questions with Even Bigger Stars. Tom was a delight as usual, and Continue reading

Donald Trump on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert

Donald Trump made his much-anticipated debut on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert last night. Stephen, like every other late night host, has been very much enjoying Trump’s candidacy. As Colbert admitted, the jokes pretty much write themselves. The interview has drawn mixed reviews, with many people feeling that Stephen went a little bit too “soft” on The Donald. We’re of the mind that Continue reading

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert Premieres

After what felt like, at times, an endless wait,The Late Show with Stephen Colbert finally premiered last night on CBS. As Stephen himself noted, they’ve had months to come up with this first episode and it showed in the fact that there was very little in the way of hiccups or visible nerves. Stephen seemed to slip back into his hosting duties as easily as he slipped back into a suit (although, we have to say, Stephen’s suit last night was definitely a little bit more fun and less business-y than his alter ego would have worn). The show itself Continue reading

Chris Gethard on Late Night with Seth Meyers

The Chris Gethard Show is like nothing else out there. It’s technically a talk show (we guess?) but there’s so much more to it than that. Since debuting on Fusion TV in May (moving from cable access, where it has aired since 2011), they film and stream it live on Tuesdays and then edit it down to a half-hour broadcast on Thursdays. There are  Continue reading

Stephen Colbert Has a Video Game, Of Course

Screen Shot 2015-07-18 at 9.52.31 AM

In news that should surprise no one, Stephen Colbert continues to be the best. As part of what is certainly the most productive and entertaining haitus that we can remember, Stephen Colbert has just released a video game. Because of course he has. It’s called Escape from the Man-Sized Cabinet and Continue reading

After a couple of weeks on the disabled list, Jimmy Fallon was back behind the desk at The Tonight Show on Monday night. Fallon was injured at home and last night was the first time that the details of his harrowing injury were fully disclosed. A few details were released in drips and drabs, but now we know what happened with the story told by the victim himself. Continue reading
