Hillary Clinton Appears on Jimmy Kimmel Live

After a two-week Olympics hiatus, late night television is finally back! Jimmy Kimmel had the big get on Monday, as Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Jimmy Kimmel doesn’t come up very often in the discussion of political comedy in late night, but he’s sneakily one of the best interviewers of politicians out there. He’s good at walking the line between keeping things light (and making the candidates look fun-loving) and asking some real questions (which they may or may not want to answer).  Continue reading

Couples Counseling with Matt Damon and Jimmy Kimmel

One of the best running gags on Jimmy Kimmel Live is his ongoing “feud” with Matt Damon. Jimmy ends every show apologizing to Matt Damon for running out of time, and occasionally over the years, the two have antagonized each other face to face. This time, they met with an actual counsellor (who kept an amazingly straight face through it all) and talked about all the past hurts (including that time Matt Damon tied Jimmy up and took over the show). What was funniest for us, though, was the conceit that Matt Damon is literally spending every week day at the theater, just waiting to get on the show. Eventually, it was their attempt at art therapy that really bridged the gap, with Jimmy’s artistic rendition of Matt Damon causing everyone involved to break out into hysterics, thus ending the feud… for now. Both Casts of ‘Ghostbusters’ Appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live

There’s been a double dose of Jimmy Kimmel lately, thanks to the NBA Finals. We generally enjoy Jimmy’s primetime pre-game episodes for the basketball-related antics, but yesterday they used the extra time a bit differently. The primetime show featured the cast of the new, all-female Ghostbusters, made up of Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones, and Kate McKinnon, and the quartet was joined by the original Ghostbusters cast (Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson and Annie Potts) at the end and then throughout the late night episode.  It’s always tricky to interview a group of people, so splitting it up this way at least helped everyone get a chance to talk. President Obama’s Late Night Talk Show Appearances – A Rundown

Screen Shot 2016-06-06 at 1.11.30 PM

It’s just been announced that President Obama will appear on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday night. This marks the first time that Barack has appeared on Jimmy Fallon’s version of The Tonight Show, which is pretty crazy when you think about it. We mean, he went all the way to Marc Maron’s garage, for heaven’s sake! But of course, just because he hasn’t been on The Tonight Show when Jimmy Fallon has been the host doesn’t mean that President Obama has been lacking in his late night appearances over the years. We’ve compiled a list of all of his late night interviews here, so you can get an idea of what to expect this Thursday (of course, there’s a high probability they might just end up having a lip sync battle and playing Catch Phrase for the entire time, but hey, it’s fun to watch clips anyway). Jimmy Kimmel is Running for Vice President

Last night, Jimmy Kimmel threw his hat into the ring and declared that he is running for Vice President. He wants to be “number two” as he put it and if you look at the ridiculous candidates running for President, all we could think Continue reading

Mike Birbiglia Talks Fatherhood and His New Movie with Jimmy Kimmel

Comedian Mike Birbiglia stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live last night to promote his new movie, Don’t Think Twice. Before they got into that, though, Mike and Jimmy had to discuss fatherhood, as both recently became fathers to little girls. Before his own daughter was born, Mike went to Jimmy’s house to try and get a sense of what fatherhood would be, but he didn’t quite get the full picture thanks to Jimmy’s baby nurse. Things definitely seem easier when someone can just swoop in and do all the non-fun stuff! Continue reading

Chris Hardwick Talks Past and Present Relationships on Jimmy Kimmel Live

Chris Hardwick’s new comedy special, Funcomfortable, premieres tomorrow night (April 30) on Comedy Central. He appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night and ended up talking to Jimmy about current and past relationships. Chris is currently engaged and his fiancée happens to be a member of the Hearst family. Needless to say, she and Chris had very different upbringings, which can be seen in the types of people they’re friends with (and what their grandparents did). Continue reading

Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer Talk ‘Broad City’ on Jimmy Kimmel Live

Broad City stars Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night. Jimmy is clearly a fan of the Comedy Central show, and he chatted with them a lot about the kinds of things that make Broad City great. Abbi and Ilana talked about how their characters on the show are only slightly exaggerated versions of themselves and about all the hoops they had to jump through in order to be able to shoot the show in an actual Whole Foods. As it turns out, Continue reading

Louis CK Talks ‘Horace and Pete’ with Jimmy Kimmel

6 weeks ago, Louis CK surprised everyone by releasing a new television show (we use the term “television” loosely, however, because it’s just online through his website). We immediately downloaded Horace and Pete and were blown away. Since that first week, there have been new episodes released every Saturday. We’re a couple of weeks behind, but are looking forward to getting caught up. Since the show was released, the only additional information about its production and Louis’ intentions for the show have come via the occasional email to his subscribers. In fact, yesterday’s interview with Jimmy Kimmel was the first time Louis spoke about it in an interview.  Continue reading

Jimmy Kimmel Prepares for the Oscars with a New Edition of Mean Tweets

Jimmy Kimmel might be hosting the 2016 Emmy Awards, but for right now, he’s busy preparing for the Oscars. Like the Emmy Awards, the Academy Awards are also airing on ABC this year, which means Jimmy will be hosting a live post-Oscars special immediately after the golden statuettes are handed out. It also means that, of course, we get another edition of Mean Tweets featuring movie stars. Continue reading

Jimmy Kimmel Will Probably Host the 2016 Emmys

cdn.indiewire.psdops

It’s usually pretty easy to guess who will be hosting the Emmys – the television awards show has a strong tradition of choosing someone with an affiliation to the network that the ceremony will air on, usually one of their late night talk show hosts. The 2016 Emmy Awards will air on ABC, which means that it was always pretty likely that Jimmy Kimmel would be their choice. It turns out that our educated guesses were correct, as Variety reported yesterday that Jimmy is indeed in negotiations to once again take over the hosting duties. He last hosted in 2012, which was, you guessed it, the last time ABC aired the Emmys. Continue reading

Hannibal Buress Talks about Doing Stand-up in Tokyo and Dubai

Hannibal Buress is a busy guy. He’s had recent roles in movies (Daddy’s Home), TV shows (The Jim Gaffigan ShowBroad CityThe Lucas Bros. Moving Co.Children’s Hospital), and commercials (Samsung) but his main focus is still stand-up. In his chat with Jimmy Kimmel yesterday, Hannibal Burress talked about some of his recent experiences with stand-up, including performing in some foreign locations. Hannibal performed in Tokyo at a British pub, Continue reading

Jimmy Kimmel Joins Mulder and Scully

As anyone who is a fan of the X-Files is aware, the ’90s show is coming back in a big way, with a revival miniseries set to air on FOX, beginning on January 21. As the return of Mulder and Scully is less than a week away, David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson are starting to make the rounds to promote it. Last night, they appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live, where they participated in Continue reading

Kristen Wiig Visits Jimmy Kimmel

We finally went and saw The Martian this past weekend. Like everyone else, we loved it, even if we were half-waiting for Kristen Wiig to break out some jokes throughout the whole thing. Kristen appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night to promote her new independent film, Nasty Baby and to remind everyone that we should be getting excited about the upcoming Ghostbusters movie. She reveals a little bit about it (her character didn’t get to drive the car and it takes place in the present day), but Continue reading

Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd visit Jimmy Kimmel in Brooklyn

Yesterday was Back to the Future Day and while they didn’t quite get everything right (no flying cars and, sadly, no Cubs World Series), it’s still been fun to reminisce about the movies and to be reminded that we’re living in the future. As part of Jimmy Kimmel’s Brooklyn Week (featuring mostly things that have little-t0-nothing-to do with Brooklyn) Marty McFly and Doc Brown showed up on stage Continue reading
