Amy Schumer Shares Her Hawaiian Experience on The Late Show

Amy Schumer spent the summer in Hawaii filming a movie with Goldie Hawn. She talked about it on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. While there, Amy got sick and ultimately broke Continue reading

Mark Normand on The Late Show

Comedian Mark Normand appeared on The Late Show Friday night. He shared his thoughts on hangovers, his anxiety, and his thoughts on abbreviations. We always enjoy seeing Mark Normand and he Continue reading

John Oliver Loves Tim Kaine

John Oliver appeared on The Late Show last night and was giddy with excitement about Tim Kaine. Oliver couldn’t believe how much of a step dad Kaine was. Everything from bad impressions Continue reading

Jon Stewart Takes Over Colbert’s Desk

Jon Stewart’s appearance on The Late Show on Monday was fun, but all too short and it ultimately left us wanting more. Last night, he delivered, taking over Colbert’s desk and giving one of his signature Daily Show rants. He feigned feeling a little rusty, and he was just wearing a t-shirt with a suit jacket and a clip-on tie, but this was Jon Stewart at his peak Daily Show strength. His takedown of “angry groundhog” Donald Trump and Fox News’ “Lumpy” (Sean Hannity) was executed with precision. In the end, what was most affecting was his sincere rage at the hypocrisy of those who claimed to care about cops’ lives but failed to support the 9/11 First Responder’s Bill reauthorization, culminating in an expletive not quite fit for live network television. Continue reading

Michelle Obama and James Corden Appear on ‘Carpool Karaoke’

While most of the late night political coverage has been focused on the Republican National Convention (for very good reasons), last night, James Corden instead spent some time with First Lady Michelle Obama in the highly-anticipated Carpool Karaoke segment. Even though we tend to think that Carpool Karaoke is slightly overdone (as in, they do it too often for it to retain its punch), this was one that we were really excited to check out. Apart from the fact that Michelle Obama is not a singer (although she made up for it with enthusiasm!), this episode was also different because they couldn’t actually drive anywhere — it seems James was just making loops around the White House. We were expecting Continue reading

Lewis Black Talks Rage with Stephen Colbert

The Late Show was a Daily Show reunion last night, as Lewis Black stopped by to visit Stephen Colbert. The former correspondents reminisced about their time on the Comedy Central institution, which Stephen joined after Lewis Black’s “Back in Black” segment were already classics. As you might expect, Lewis is still as rage-filled as ever, and it turns out that he has a tried-and-true method of staying just the right amount of angry. Continue reading

Sam Morril on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert

Unfortunately, there aren’t many stand-up spots on late night talk shows any more. Whenever we spot one on the late night calendar, we make a point of watching it. When Sam Morril was lined up to perform on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Friday, we were Continue reading

Matt Walsh Brings Stephen Colbert a 4/20 Gift

Matt Walsh stopped by The Late Show with Stephen Colbert last night to promote the upcoming season of Veep. The political satire returns this Sunday, April 24 on HBO, although with the way this election season is going, it’s going to be hard for them to top it. It’s hard to imagine how they could come up with anything more outlandish than we’ve already seen in reality, but we can’t wait to watch them try! We’re sure that Matt’s character Mike McLintock will be at the center of whatever scandal Selina Meyer next finds herself in.  Continue reading

Thomas Middleditch Exposes His Inner Nerd

Thomas Middleditch plays a very awkward nerd on Silicon Valley. On The Late Show, he admitted to Stephen Colbert, a theatre audience of hundreds, and a TV audience of millions that he is really a nerd deep down. Hitting on a love of computers and addressing that he is into GURPS (Generic Universal Role Playing System), Thomas Continue reading

Stephen Colbert and Hillary Clinton Go to Carnegie Deli

Stephen Colbert sat down with Hillary Clinton at New York’s Carnegie Deli in a pre-taped interview that aired last night on The Late Show. Clinton and Colbert ate a couple of huge sandwiches, had Continue reading

We Found Out that Jay-Z Loves “Make America Drumpf Again”

Everyone is fascinated by the process over at Last Week Tonight apparently, even Stephen Colbert. On The Late Show, Colbert and his former Daily Show colleague, John Oliver discussed how a comedy news show is made over at HBO. They also talked about some of John Oliver’s recent Continue reading

Cameron Esposito Performs Stand-Up on ‘The Late Late Show’

Cameron Esposito is one of the funniest stand-up comedians out there, so we were excited to see that her appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden included a stand-up set (although it would’ve been nice to see her on the couch with Connie Britton and Mark Cuban, we’re not gonna lie). Cameron recently got married to fellow comedian Rhea Butcher and her new marriage informed a lot of her jokes. She discussed her admiration for Rhea’s skills at doing things like fixing cars but most of her set was focused on her newfound desire to Continue reading

Craig Ferguson Plays Darts on ‘The Late Show’

It is still weird to see Craig Ferguson sitting in the guest chair on late night shows. This shows how much we miss him being on CBS in the middle of the night hosting The Late Late Show. Last night, Craig appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and Continue reading

Stephen Colbert Joins Key & Peele for a new McCringleberry Sketch

As we mentioned, Stephen Colbert had a bevy of of celebrity guests for his post-Super Bowl show last night. When he announced that Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele would be joining him, we wondered how that was possible given that they had their own commitments to live television during Super Bowl 50. As it turns out, Key & Peele didn’t actually appear at the Ed Sullivan Theater in person, but rather participated via a pre-taped sketch. Just as they performed their live Super Bowl commentary in character, they also played characters during their appearance on The Late Show. Keegan-Michael Key reprised his role as Hingle McCringleberry while Jordan Peele played the ref. Stephen played Continue reading

Will Ferrell Tries to be Stephen Colbert’s Jack Hanna

Stephen Colbert’s live post-Super Bowl special was filled to the brim with celebrity guests. Will Ferrell, Tina Fey, Margot Robbie, and Megyn Kelly all stopped by in person, and Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele made a truly hilarious video appearance (more on that later). Of all of these, Will Ferrell’s appearance was the clear highlight for us. He was technically there to promote Zoolander 2, but unlike how Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson have been showing up everywhere in character (including SNL), Will didn’t come in his Mugatu drag. Instead, he came out dressed in safari clothes. He explained that Continue reading
