Amy Schumer probably expected to spend this week promoting her new book, The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo. While her book is getting some great reviews, she’s instead spent most of the week talking about her Comedy Central show Inside Amy Schumer and one of its writers, Kurt Metzger. After Kurt courted some controversy a couple of days ago with his comments on UCB’s banning of a comic who had been accused of sexual assault (read all about it here), Amy began receiving tweets and Facebook comments asking her for her opinion on Kurt’s comments and whether he was still employed as a writer on Inside Amy Schumer. Here are her initial tweets on the subject:
Reading that, you would be forgiven if you thought that that meant that Inside Amy Schumer was cancelled after four seasons. But that turns out not to be the case. As Amy clarified today, the show is just on an extended hiatus as she tours for stand-up and continues writing. IT seems like her deal with Comedy Central is similar to the deals that Louis CK has with FX or Larry David has with HBO – the door is always open for them to come back when they feel creatively ready. After a somewhat disappointing fourth season, we think the break will be good for everyone.
