Unfortunately, there aren’t many stand-up spots on late night talk shows any more. Whenever we spot one on the late night calendar, we make a point of watching it. When Sam Morril was lined up to perform on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Friday, we were definitely excited.
Morril, a former Colbert intern, absolutely delivered in a set that was pretty edgy by current late night standards. He took aim at a lot of topics that now are off limits, but did so in a way that pushed boundaries, but likely didn’t really offend. His Caitlyn Jenner joke in particular is one that we expect people to be reciting around the water cooler on Monday morning.
Sam Morril is a rising name in stand-up comedy. He’s had a Comedy Central half hour, a comedy album that went to number on on iTunes, and has been seen on several late night shows like Conan and @midnight. We look forward to seeing more of Sam in 2016 and beyond.
